Albini & Pitigliani was established in August, 1945, by Mr. Albo Albini and Mr. Alessandro Pitigliani in the city of Prato, a textile center near Florence.
At the beginning, the Company offered domestic services to the South of Italy, in particular to the cities of Naples and Bari.
In the years that followed, the Company developed the Italian business, establishing offices in Florence and Milan, and appointing exclusive agents throughout Europe in order to offer a complete range of services between Italy and every European country.Moreover, the company appointed exclusive agents in various countries outside Europe, in order to offer ocean and air freight services between Italy and most of the countries in the world.
During this time several other offices were established in Italy: Como, Reggio Emilia, Civitanova Marche, Salerno, and Trani in order to cover the entire country.
In May 1984, the Company established its first subsidiary outside of Italy in Holland. Gradually other subsidiaries were established in most in most of the European countries, as well as buying existing companies. This process is still evolving and in the near future the Company will establish additional subsidiaries in all those European countries where it is not present yet, even if it is very well represented by important local agents. We are planning to complete our presence in Europe within the next three years.
In June 1990, the Company opened Alpi USA Chicago as its first subsidiary in the USA. Since that time, six other Alpi USA offices were opened in New York, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Puerto Rico.
The Company has important participations in several other companies around the world. These companies have been appointed as exclusive agents. Our plans are to establish a complete network around the world within the next ten years. We feel confident that we will be able to reach that goal, as we believe we have the right mixture of human resources and experience available to us.
